Imposter syndrome affects a staggering 70% of people at some point in their lives. But what if you could break free from its grip and live with confidence and authenticity?

In You Are Not an Imposter, Coline Monsarrat delivers a gripping exploration of this all-too-common condition. Drawing from her personal battle with imposter syndrome, which nearly claimed her life, Monsarrat courageously shares her story to shed light on the hidden struggles many face.

From sabotaging our careers to undermining our well-being, its impact is far-reaching and often underestimated. When I was confronted with the reality that my health condition had led me to develop imposter syndrome, it was a wake-up call. I realized that by not acknowledging my own struggles and challenges, I was doing myself a disservice and risking my life in the process. The burden of feeling like a fraud in my own disease had taken a toll on my physical and mental health, leading to more diagnoses and a downward spiral. But with this newfound understanding, I was able to turn my life around. I made it my mission to understand the root causes of my imposter syndrome and overcome it, not just for myself but for all those who might be struggling with similar challenges. And in doing so, I discovered a new level of strength and resilience that I never knew I had.

The destructive symptoms of Imposter Syndrome

Perfectionism

Perfectionism can be a double-edged sword – while striving for excellence is commendable, it can stop you from achieving your dream.

Self-Doubt

It is easy to succumb to self-doubt and fear, but this is unfruitful and takes away from our power to achieve great things.

People-Pleasing

People-pleasing is a dangerous trap to fall into. Seeking approval from others and striving to please as many people around us will not help us feel more worthy.

Confidence

Becoming confident is an essential skill. By having faith in your abilities, you can achieve anything, yet without the foundations of confidence, optimal growth becomes substantially more difficult.

What reviewers are saying

"By being able to marry the personal with the professional, Monsarrat is able to create something compelling concurrently on an intellectual and emotive set of levels. There’s never the sense of there having to be a tradeoff of one with the other, and because of that the messaging of the book is that much stronger. Monsarrat treads a fine line here, one that is very easy to cross to the detriment of the presentational and communicative qualities. But because she’s able to make the emotional a good analogy for the statistically-backed, there’s never a hiccup in this regard overwhelming the ship."

I related so strongly to this author and her story. She does a fabulous job of sharing her experiences and, by doing so, shines a bright light on Imposter Syndrome so that others can benefit. This book is well-researched and full of solid, well-documented references; however, Monsarrat does a great job of weaving her story into the pages so that it’s not a dry, academic tome.
